Cloudflare's cf CLI Covers 3,000 Operations, and Its Best Feature Is JSON by Default

Cloudflare's cf CLI entered open beta on 28 September. It covers the whole Cloudflare API surface, over 3,000 operations, where Wrangler offered commands for about 280. Cloudflare generates the commands from the OpenAPI schemas behind its docs and SDKs, using its Forge pipeline, which it says is being open-sourced.
Our take: the quiet decision that makes this usable is JSON by default. Output is pretty-printed for people and condensed for agents, so an AI tool can read results without extra flags or a parsing step. That is what designing for an agent as a user looks like in practice.
Two other details are worth a look. cf cli search lets an agent find a command by describing the task in plain language, and projects move to a typed cloudflare.config.ts file, with cf migrate converting existing Workers. Install is npm i -g cf.
When the beta ends, a final major Wrangler release will point users to cf, and Wrangler then gets 18 months of maintenance support. If your sites deploy on Cloudflare, try cf on a test project now, so the change is a non-event later.
