Figma Expands in London as the UK Becomes Its Largest Market Outside the US

Figma: expanded London office announcement

Figma announced on 29 September 2026 that it has expanded its London office, taking space at Elder Yard on Norton Folgate in restored Georgian and Victorian warehouses in a historic makers' district. The company says the UK is its largest market outside the US as of the second quarter of 2026.

The figures in the announcement are worth reading. Figma says more than 15 million files were created in the UK in the past 12 months, and that two-thirds of FTSE 100 companies use the product. UK customers it names include ASOS, BT, News UK and Vodafone. About 85 percent of Figma's weekly active users sit outside the US.

It also shares findings from its 2026 AI research, with 421 UK respondents. Of those, 52 percent say design has become more important, and 92 percent say AI is essential to their future success. As with any vendor survey, we would read that as a mood indicator rather than a measurement.

Daniel Barrett, Figma's SVP of International, said the UK has one of the deepest concentrations of design and product talent anywhere. London Mayor Sadiq Khan called the expansion a vote of confidence in London's position as a global leader in technology, design and the creative industries. The office follows similar moves in Sao Paulo, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Berlin and New York during 2026.

For UK studios the practical effects are modest but real. More local support and events are likely, and a bigger Figma presence in London means more clients walking in with Figma files already built. We already see that on projects: the brief arrives as a prototype, and the conversation starts further along.

The wider point is about where design work now happens. A tool that began as a browser app for interface design is now a major employer and tenant in central London, and the creative industries are plainly part of its pitch to the UK.
