Nomad Sculpt 2.9 Adds VDM Brushes and UV Unwrap, and That Changes What a Tablet Is For

Nomad Sculpt is easy to dismiss as a tablet toy, and the 2.9 release, covered in CG Channel's October software roundup, makes that harder. It adds VDM brushes, a UV unwrap system, an autoremesher and live sync with Blender and ZBrush. Version 2.10 followed with shape-based painting and displacement map support, and 2.11 and 2.12 added smaller workflow and VDM tools.
The reason this matters is the pipeline, not the brushes. A sculpt that can be unwrapped, remeshed and pushed live into Blender stops being a sketch you rebuild from scratch and becomes the start of the real asset. Prices are modest: $19.99 on mobile and $35 on desktop.
Our take: use it for organic forms where speed beats precision, such as a character prop, a plant, a worn leather detail, then judge the result in your main package. The autoremesher and UV tools save time only if the output survives a close look, so test one asset end to end before you rely on it for client work.
A cheap app that fits a professional pipeline is rare. It deserves an afternoon of testing.
