Selling Floating Homes Before the First One Floated: The Boathouse Film

Boathouse is a series of floating home designs set on the Thames and near Staines. We created the concept design and the film that sold them, so buyers could picture life on the water long before a single one was built. The finished homes followed, and they were every bit as good as the renders promised.
That last point is the one we care about most. A sales film for a product that does not exist yet is a promise, and the build has to keep it. So we treat every frame as something the builder will be held to.
The first job of a film like this is to answer the question a buyer cannot ask a brochure: what is it actually like to live here? That means showing the water, the light and the surrounding trees as part of the home, not as a backdrop. A floating home is sold on its setting as much as its floor plan.
The second job is scale. Homes on water are easy to make look bigger than they are, and a buyer who feels misled at the viewing will never forgive the film. We keep cameras at human eye height, and we show boats and neighbours at believable sizes so the home sits in a real-feeling place.
The third job is atmosphere without fantasy. Warm evening light and calm water are fine, but we avoid conditions the Thames rarely delivers. Buyers know the river, and a render that ignores British weather loses trust fast.
Concept design and film have to be done together. When the same team draws the home and then films it, the camera never shows a detail that the design cannot support. We like that constraint because it makes the film honest by default.
